About

Our Mission

The Western Australian Debating League aspires to ensure all students have meaningful access to debating that encourages critical thinking, fosters engagement with global issues, and equips students with lifelong skills and the confidence to pursue their potential. WADL aims to do this by ensuring all WA school students have access to challenging debating competitions, high quality resources, and purpose-built development opportunities.

Our Vision

WADL seeks to provide tailored debating competitions and resources that empower students to feel, regardless of their postcode, that they can stand up for what they believe in.

Membership

Membership of the Western Australian Debating League is the first step to be involved in WADL. Membership is approved on a monthly basis and provides you voting rights at all general meetings, the ability to run for League offices and, of course, access to our adjudicator and presenter training resources. If you are interested, please contact our Secretary at secretary@wadl.org.

Adjudicating

WADL is always looking out for enthusiastic and energetic people to become adjudicators. Most of our adjudicators and presenters are currently university students or young professionals. Adjudicators must be out of high school. If you have any questions or are excited to join our team, please contact our Chief Operating Officer at coo@wadl.org.

Acknowledgement of Country.

The Western Australian Debating League acknowledges the traditional custodians throughout Western Australia and their use of verbal communication as a source of collaboration and truth. The League pays its respects to all members of the Aboriginal communities and their cultures; and to Elders both past and present.
