Our preliminary rounds are run at high schools across the Perth metropolitan area. Students compete in one preliminary round and two final rounds.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is registration?

Registration is $80 for schools with an ICSEA below 1080.
Registration is $130 for schools with an ICSEA at or above 1080.
Registration is based on your school's Income Socio-Economic Advantage (ICSEA) and is usually paid by your school.

No. You only need to attend 1 preliminary round.

No, you cannot compete with someone from a different school. We may make exceptions for homeschooled students or students from alternative educational institutions.

If one partner is eligible for the lower division (Cygnets - yr 7,8,9) and the other partner is eligible for the upper division (Swans yr 10,11,12), you should register to compete in the Swans division

We have many resources available to help you learn about BP debating. Our handbook is a great starting point for learning the fundamentals of BP debating. We also have a regularly updated YouTube channel and Resource Hub which provides helpful information
